The World’s Governments Scramble To Address Swine Flu Concerns
In an attempt to avoid global hysteria and a pandemic, governments across the globe are hurrying to deal with the possibility of more swine flu cases. The epicenter of the outbreak was Mexico, where there are now more then 100 confirmed deaths attributed to the swine flu and the Mexican government reported last week that the total number of cases is more then 1,600.
As a means to avoid more outbreaks of swine flu, Mexico has cancelled schools, closed restaurants and movie theaters and very few people ventured out of their homes. Many Mexicans wore face masks in public to protect themselves from the virus.
Six people in Canada are confirmed as having swine flu and some New York students had gotten slightly ill while on spring-break in Mexico.
There is no vaccine available for swine flu, but the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the United States is working on producing one by creating a seed stock of the strain.
